Smart Blanks M1200 — more substantial feel. Classic fit, tubular body, and a 1-inch collar. Solids are 100% combed ring-spun cotton for a soft feel in a heavier fabric. The manufacturer lists 6 oz / 200 GSM and is transitioning to 6.5 oz; remaining 6 oz stock is still in circulation. Our supplier’s current lot weight is not yet confirmed. Gildan 5000 Heavy Cotton — classic everyday option. 5.3 oz (approximately 180 GSM), with a classic fit described by Gildan as offering loose comfort. The Black and White options listed here are 100% cotton. Taped neck and shoulders add reinforcement. Choose it for a traditional, relaxed-feeling tee; “Heavy Cotton” is the style name, and its fabric is lighter than the M1200. It is not described here as combed or ring-spun. Color affects the fabric blend
Smart Blanks 501, 3502 and M1200: solids are 100% combed ring-spun cotton; the manufacturer lists light heathers as 90% cotton / 10% rayon and dark heathers as 60% cotton / 40% polyester. These are manufacturer color categories, not a rule to judge by the swatch alone.
Cotton Heritage MC1082: most heathers are 60% cotton / 40% polyester; Athletic Heather is 85% cotton / 15% viscose; Black Graphite Heather is 80% cotton / 20% polyester. Oatmeal Heather is 99% cotton, but the manufacturer’s page and spec sheet disagree on the remaining 1% fiber. Please confirm that blend with us before ordering if fiber content is important.
Fit and fabric, in plain language
Combed ring-spun cotton is processed for smoother yarn and a soft feel. Fabric weight describes the cloth, not the finished shirt’s shipping weight. The 4.3 oz styles are the lightest choices here; 5.3–5.5 oz styles sit in the middle; M1200 is the more substantial choice. Feel also depends on the knit, wash and color blend.
Fit labels describe individual styles, not whole brands. Do not assume every Smart Blanks tee is tighter or every Gildan tee is larger. Use the linked model-specific size charts and compare with a shirt you already like. Adult and youth sizes are different. Screen colors and swatches are representative, not exact dye-match guarantees.
